The Story Behind the Brand

Built on family tradition. Proven by regional leadership.Since 1954, Designs by Marc Limited has grown from deep local roots into the largest uniform manufacturer in the English-speaking Caribbean, delivering corporate uniforms that represent quality, professionalism, and pride.

In 1954, Elizabeth Cole began sewing as a humble dressmaker in Dressikie, St. Mary. Her work quickly earned a strong reputation for quality, fit, and precision. She later served as a Clothing and Textiles teacher at Guys Hill High School for 17 years, passing on the standards of craftsmanship that remain at the heart of our company.

By 1985, Elizabeth’s legacy had taken on new life through her daughter, Marcia. Having grown up immersed in the craft, Marcia developed a sharp eye for fit, polish, and professional presence. While working as an insurance sales agent, she found the market offerings uninspiring and was determined to stand apart. So she began creating her own outfits, tailoring each piece to reflect confidence, individuality, and excellence.

A few years later, it became clear that Marcia’s work was more than personal style, it was a product the market genuinely wanted. As interest in her garments grew, she took the next decisive step.

In 1989, Marcia incorporated Designs by Marc Limited and began supplying select retail stores in Kingston, including Changes, Ammars, and Lee’s 5th Avenue.

Marcia’s rare ability to blend refined style with corporate professionalism quickly set her work apart. It wasn’t long before companies began to take notice, particularly those seeking uniforms. As demand grew, she gradually transitioned away from retail and toward corporate uniform manufacturing, earning the trust of respected institutions such as Air Jamaica, Couples, and Workers Bank, among others.

Today, Designs by Marc Limited stands as a leading garment manufacturer and one of the Caribbean’s most trusted providers of corporate uniforms for both men and women. We combine decades of craftsmanship with modern production capabilities to deliver uniforms that are polished, consistent, and built to perform.
